据报道，泉州今年将进一步扩大电网的建设力度，仅用于主干电网的建设投资就达到14.8亿元。由于近年来泉州经济强劲增长，其用电量也逐年不断增长，于2006年突破200亿千瓦时大关。根据泉州电网规划，2006到2010年间泉州用于建设电网的投资超过100亿元，在此期间，泉州将新建3座500千伏变电站、21座220千伏变电站和90座110千伏变电站。
